Most of the time a “fancy” tropical drink involves way too many ingredients and a blender you have to clean later. This one is just a quick mix that you can pull together in five minutes when the sun is out and you actually want to enjoy it. The sugar rim is a nice touch that makes it feel like a proper vacation drink, and it is easy enough to make a non-alcoholic version for the kids so they don’t feel left out of the fun.
Instructions:
- Prep the Signature Rim: On a small plate, mix the Pioneer Granulated Sugar and Pioneer Brown Sugar together. Moisten the rims of two tall glasses with a fresh orange slice (or water), then dip the rims into the sugar mixture until evenly coated.
- Ice & Pour: Fill the sugar-rimmed glasses with ice.
- Mix: In a cocktail shaker or large pitcher, combine the Rum, Peach Schnapps, Chambord, Pineapple Juice, and Orange Juice. Stir or shake well to combine.
- Finish: Pour the mixture into the prepared glasses. Top with a splash of grenadine for a sunset effect and garnish with fresh orange slices and strawberries.
Cook’s Note:
For a non-alcoholic “mocktail” version, simply omit the spirits and add a splash of sparkling coconut water or lemon-lime soda to maintain the tropical fizz!
This recipe uses sugar to:
- Create a Decorative Rim: Provides a professional, “vacation-style” presentation.
- Balance Acidity: Cuts through the tartness of the pineapple and orange juices.
- Enhance Texture: The blend of brown and granulated sugar adds a delightful crunch to every sip.
