Sweet and Sour Meatloaf

  • 1 ½ lbs. ground round
  • 1 C dry bread crumbs
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • ¼ tsp. pepper
  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 1 tsp. dry minced onion
  • 1 can (15 oz.) tomato sauce, divided
  • 2 T Pioneer® Golden Light Brown Sugar
  • 2 T vinegar
  • ½ C Pioneer® Sugar
  • 2 tsp. yellow mustard


  1. Preheat oven to 350° F. Lightly spray with cooking oil, a 9-inch loaf pan; set aside.
  2. Mix ground round, bread crumbs, salt, pepper, eggs and minced onion and half of the tomato sauce together in a large bowl. Pack mixture into prepared pan.
  3. Bake for 50 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile, mix remaining tomato sauce, Pioneer® Golden Light Brown Sugar, vinegar, Pioneer® Sugar and mustard. Heat and stir over low heat until just boiling.
  5. Pour over the meatloaf and continue to bake for another 10 minutes. Remove from oven and let stand 10-15 minutes before serving.
