Pear Pie

  • 6 C pears, peeled and sliced thinly
  • ½ C Pioneer® Golden Light Brown Sugar, firmly packed
  • 3 T Minute® Tapioca
  • 1 T lemon juice
  • ½ tsp. ground ginger
  • ¼ tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 double crust pie shell
  • 1 T butter or margarine, thinly sliced


  1. Preheat oven to 400° F.
  2. In a large bowl, mix pears, Pioneer® Golden Light Brown Sugar, tapioca, lemon juice, ginger and cinnamon. Let stand for 15 minutes.
  3. Prepare bottom pie crust using 9-inch pie plate. Fill with fruit mixture; dot with butter. Prepare top pie crust and place on top of fruit mixture. Seal and trim off excess crust around the edges. Cut holes in top crust to ventilate. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes or until juices form bubbles that burst slowly.
