  • ¾ C shortening
  • 1 C Pioneer® Sugar
  • ¼ C molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2 C flour, sifted
  • ½ tsp. ginger
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • ½ tsp. cloves
  • Pioneer® Sugar


  1. Cream together shortening and Pioneer® Sugar. Add molasses and egg; beat well.
  2. In a separate bowl sift together flour, ginger, salt, baking soda, cinnamon and cloves. Add to the creamed mixture and blend well. Lightly cover and chill a few hours in the refrigerator.
  3. Preheat oven to 375° F.
  4. Remove cookie dough and form into 1-inch balls. Roll in Pioneer® Sugar to coat and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 8 – 10 minutes.
