  • 4 oz. unsweetened chocolate
  • ⅔ C shortening
  • 2 C of Pioneer® Sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 ¼ C flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt


  1. Preheat oven to 350° F. Grease a 9 x 13-inch; set aside.
  2. Melt chocolate and shortening in large saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat and mix in Pioneer® Sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
  3. Stir in flour, baking powder and salt; mix well. Spread in prepared pan.
  4. Bake 25 minutes or until toothpick comes clean. Brownie will start to pull away from sides of pan. Cool slightly then cut into bars.
