Homemade Chocolate Peanut Butter

  • 2 C unsalted shelled peanuts
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 2 T peanut oil or vegetable oil; if needed
  • ½ C unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 – 1 ½ C Pioneer® Confectioners Powdered Sugar


  1. Preheat oven to 350° F. Add peanuts to a baking sheet or dish, making sure they are laid out flat. Roast for 3 minutes; gently stir or shake pan. Roast for another 3-5 minutes or until lightly brown or smell nutty. (Be careful not to cook too long as they can burn quickly). Remove and let cool slightly.
  2. Add your peanuts to a food processor. Pulse until they are ground, making sure to scrape down the sides.
  3. Add salt, oil, cocoa powder and Pioneer® Confectioners Powdered Sugar. Pulse about 1 -3 minutes. Taste and make any adjustments to the butter with salt and oil, a teaspoon at a time. Pulse until all is blended.
  4. Spoon into a jar or air tight container. Refrigerate for up to a month.
