  • 3 C flour
  • 1 C butter, softened
  • ⅔ C Pioneer® Confectioners Powdered Sugar
  • ¼ C milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 pkg. (7 oz.) almond paste

Vanilla Icing:

  • 1 C Pioneer® Confectioners Powdered Sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 ½ T milk

Chocolate Icing:

  • 1 oz. unsweetened baking chocolate, melted & cooled
  • 1 C Pioneer® Confectioners Powdered Sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 T milk
  • Christmas colored sprinkles


  1. Preheat oven to 375° F.
  2. In a large mixing bowl beat the flour, butter, Pioneer® Confectioners Powdered Sugar, milk and vanilla with electric mixer on medium speed until dough forms.
  3. Cut the almond paste into ¼-inch slices, then cut each slice into fourths. Shape a 1-inch ball of dough around each piece of almond paste. Gently roll to form a ball. Place about 1-inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes or until set and bottom is golden brown. Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely (about 30 minutes).
  4. Vanilla Icing: In a small bowl, stir Pioneer® Confectioners Powdered Sugar, vanilla and milk together until smooth.
  5. Chocolate Icing: Melt the unsweetened chocolate, add Pioneer® Confectioners Powdered Sugar, vanilla and milk. Stir until smooth.
  6. Dip tops of cookies into each frosting, dip into sprinkles if desired. Place on wax paper to set.

Cook's Note

If necessary, stir in additional milk one teaspoon at a time to frosting ingredients, until soft enough to spread.
