  • 2 stick margarine
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 C light corn syrup
  • 2 ⅔ C Pioneer® Sugar
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 4 batches of popped white popcorn (½ paper grocery bag full)


  1. In a heavy saucepan melt margarine and butter together. Add corn syrup and Pioneer® Sugar. Stir and cook over medium heat.
  2. Using a candy thermometer, heat to hard boil *
  3. Remove from heat and add vanilla, salt and baking soda; stir well.
  4. Place popcorn into a very large bowl and pour mixture over popcorn; mix well.
  5. Cover your counter top or a few cookie sheets with waxed paper and spread the popcorn out to cool. Store in airtight container.

Cooks Note

If you do not have a candy thermometer; boil the mixture for 20-30 minutes; dip a spoon into mixture and drop into cold water, if it hardens its done.
