Apple Pumpkin Bread

  • 1 ½ C Pioneer® Sugar
  • 1 C canned pumpkin
  • ½ C water
  • 1/3 C applesauce
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 2/3 C all-purpose flour
  • ¼ tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp cloves, optional
  • 1 C Michigan Apples (tart), peeled & chopped
  • ¾ C walnuts, chopped


  1. Preheat oven to 325° F. Spray a loaf pan with cooking spray with flour; set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl combine Pioneer® Sugar, pumpkin, water, applesauce and eggs; mix well.
  3. In a separate bowl combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves if you like; stir.
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet and beat on low speed of an electric mixer just until moistened. Fold in apples and nuts.
  5. Pour into prepared pan and bake for 1 ½ – 1 ¾  hours or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Remove from the oven to a wire rack and cool for 10 minutes before removing the bread from the pan.
  6. Serve with several flavors of cream cheese. Enjoy!

Cooks Note

If using mini loaf pans (6-7 pans) check for doneness after 30 minutes.
